The OM-D E-M5 Mark II picks up where its Mark I predecessor left off, refining the concept of a DSLR-like – and DSLR-lite – CSC to a finely-polished article.

The improvements to the Mark II’s LCD screen and viewfinder are most welcome, while the retention of the five-axis image stabilisation and various other successful features seem wise.

Then there are the additions to the Mark II in the form of image capture functionality. The 40MP ‘High Res Shot’ function, for example, is a setting which the landscape photographer will surely embrace, while the improvements to the model’s movie capture mode are also sure to please serious shooters.

Although it might still lag a touch behind APS-C-powered cameras in terms of Raw image quality, as a lightweight alternative to a DSLR the E-M5 Mark II is certainly a successful upgrade on its predecessor and one which is sure to prove popular.
