Kingston Technology has launched the DataTraveler Secure – a new line of waterproof USB 2.0 Flash drives featuring hardware-based encryption to safeguard data. The new DataTraveler Secure joins Kingston Technology?s family of DataTraveler USB drives and is designed for professionals and SME users.

Capable of withstanding harsh operating conditions, the DataTraveler Secure features a waterproof titanium-coated stainless steel casing. Its waterproof rating conforms to the International Electrotechnical Commission (IEC) 60529 IPX8 standard to protect against water damage to depths of up to four feet.

Controlled access and data protection is provided via a 256-bit Advanced Encryption Standard hardware-based encryption, enabling information to be encrypted and decrypted by authorized users, without the need for special software. The DataTraveler Secure drives are perform at 24 MB/sec read and 10 MB/sec write speeds, and are available in capacities of up to 4 GB.
