Like the Epson units, this update to the Giga Vu Pro is primarily a photo viewer with multimedia functions, whereas the Archos machines are multimedia viewers with photo functions. The Jobo’s impressive LCD is the brightest of the bunch, though it lacks the oomph in Epson’s colours. It has the best viewing angle, and it rapidly processes RAW files at source rather than extracting the JPEG preview that some other viewers do. There’s also Wi-Fi support, a dust detector and histograms. What looks like a strong casing in reality feels plasticky and creaky, which is a major disappointment considering the price.
