Archos units have a host of optional accessories that allow you to copy DVDs or record TV.

They can also download and store your digital images.

Unfortunately this option is limited to JPEG, so no RAW files.

The units have great capacity – from 30GB for the 404 and either 80GB or 160GB on the 504.

They are also well designed, with large flush mounted control buttons. Best of all are the screens – the 404 has a 3.5 inch LCD, while the 504 has a 16:9 ratio 4.3 inch LCD.

Downloading is simple and quick using the £15 camera dock, which also charges the unit. Both Archos models are capable multi-purpose devices, but limited for DSLR photographers.
