Sony HX90V Review – Performance
The inclusion of an EVF that pops up from the camera’s body is no doubt one of the real improvements on the camera’s predecessor. The good news is that the viewfinder itself is certainly larger and more pleasing in use than that found on the model’s closest competitor – the Panasonic TZ70. The viewfinder is a touch too contrasty at times, although on the whole it’s a great addition.
The LCD screen is also good, with the tilting functionality welcome. However, the fact that it’s lacking in any kind of touch functionality is a bit of a disappointment.
In terms of the camera’s AF functionality, in good light the performance is noticeably snappy. Although it does slow slightly in lower lighting conditions, this dip in performance is remedied somewhat by the presence of an AF assist beam.
With regards to AF performance at various focal lengths, the HX90V is fairly consistent and even at the most extended of focal length it delivers prompt AF acquirement.
