Sony HX90V Review – Design
Perhaps the area of the largest overhaul is the HX90V’s design. Rather than tweak the design of its predecessor the new model is a complete overhaul and a much more compact package, taking its cue from the Sony RX100 III.
That’s not to say that the model’s handling has been compromised – the addition of a large raised grip on the camera’s front, for example, gives a secure hold of the camera even when shooting single-handed.
The bulk of the camera’s shooting settings are accessible through a combination of a multi-function scroll wheel on the rear of the camera and a round-lens control wheel. This set-up is full customisable and, in conjunction with the Fn button, makes the image capture process a breeze.
The only real issue with design is that in condensing the size of the camera Sony has dispensed with both the exposure compensation dial and the multi-interface shoe found on the model’s predecessor.
