Panasonic Lumix G7 Review – Design and Performance

The Lumix G7 is a camera that’s comfortable to hold and feels particularly light for a camera of its size. The plastic finish extends to the dual command dials, and being inundated by no fewer than 16 buttons, four dials and two switches it could be overwhelming for newcomers, but less so for more experienced users who’ll appreciate the plethora of manual controls.

The G7 features a range of control buttons and a pronounced hand grip

The capacitive touchscreen is an extremely versatile unit, great for viewing images in playback, scrubbing through 4K footage to extract stills and navigate the intuitive menus.

The continuous AF speed both in 4K photo and video recording modes is excellent, with focusing occurring slower than in stills mode to create smooth transitions and to avoid the distraction fast focus actions can bring.

Focus acquisition when shooting stills is brisk, and if you’re caught out in low-light the G7’s bright orange AF assist lamp provides additional illumination.
