A new family of lenses for DSLRs intended for film-shooting have been announced by Carl Zeiss. The CP.2 range of prime optics can shoot un-cropped footage on a full frame body, and have a number of different mount options.
The lenses offer a longer focus rotation, meaning performing a focus pull on camera while recording is far easier. The end lens diameter will be of a standard photographic size, making it far easier to utilise existing filter sets and adapters. Lens mounts will also be interchangeable, so if a new system is purchased the lenses needn’t be discarded. Canon EF, Nikon F and Arri Cine camera PL fits have been announced at launch.
