Sony cameras and camcorders have been taken through the arctic to track the Sony Polar Challenge. As title sponsor of the challenge that sees teams race 320 miles through the Arctic to the Magnetic North Pole, Sony took the opportunity to test its imaging technology to the full by providing each team with a stills and video camera.
The Sony Polar Challenge started on Easter Sunday and finished on the 28th April. Competitors battled to race on skis, pulling necessities in 120lb bags and stopping enroute to restock supplies as they went.
The winning team crossed the line in 11 days, 15 hours and 5 minutes, a whole 15 hours ahead of second place. They also raised £10,000 for the Laura Crane trust who research treatment for cancer in teenagers and young adults.
