Sony has announced two additions to its Cybershot portfolio, with the H50 and the W300.

The H50 is the latest in a line of superzoom compacts, with the model succeeding the H9 launched last year. It features a 9MP sensor and 15x optical zoom, with the latter covering a focal range of 31-465mm, in 35mm terms. The model also incorporates a 3in LCD screen and the D-range optimiser seen in the company?s Alpha DSLR line.

The second model, the W300, boasts a 13.6MP sensor and 2.7in LCD screen, and has been coated in titanium said to resist fingerprints and scratches. A High Sensitivity mode boosts the ISO up to 6400, while Sony?s Smile Shutter technology instructs the camera to take a photo, once it senses that a person is smiling. Super SteadyShot image stabilisation also features on the W300, as does compatibility with HD television sets.

Both cameras will be available from May. For more information visit www.sony.co.uk
