Nikonu2019s new 8MP duo, the Coolpix P3 and P4, incorporate Nikonu2019s Vibration Reduction (VR) system, and the P3 boasts Wi-Fi capability.

Nikon?s new 8MP duo, the Coolpix P3 and P4, incorporate Nikon?s Vibration Reduction (VR) system, and the P3 boasts Wi-Fi capability.
The Coolpix P3 and P4 each feature 3.5x optical zoom lenses with a focal length of 36-126mm (35mm equivalent).
Originally found in Nikon DSLRs, the VR system is designed to compensate for camera shake, enabling the use of shutter speeds three stops faster, making it suitable for low-light shooting. Two modes: ?VR Normal? and ?VR Active?, cater for different levels of movement.
Wi-Fi capability and IEEE 802.11b/g LAN support enables pictures to be sent directly from the P3 to a computer, or to wireless printers with an additional adaptor.
Alongside nine advanced and seven scene modes, the Coolpix duo incorporate an Aperture Priority mode, for manually selecting the aperture setting.
Featuring an 11-point wide area AF system, both the P3 and P4 can shoot continuously at a rate of 1.8fps, using a five-shot buffer.
A selection of built-in features enables adjustments to be made to images in-camera: Face-priority AF automatically detects and focuses on faces; D-Lighting corrects for under and over-exposure; and In-Camera Red-Eye Fix removes unsightly red eye.
Other features include a 2.5in LCD, lithium-ion battery with 200 shots per charge, 4cm macro and 23MB internal memory.
Available at the end of February the Coolpix P3 costs £349.99, while the Coolpix P4 is £329.99 and hits the shops in March. Find out more at www.nikon.co.uk.
