HP has introduced a new photo printer aimed at home users that can be used without a PC.
Print speeds for 6x4inch prints are 27 seconds. It also prints 7x5in and 12x4in panoramic images. Paper is stored in two paper trays with the capacity to hold 20 sheets of photo paper or 100 sheets of standard paper; document print speeds are 24ppm for colour and 30ppm for black & white.
Users can print directly from a selection of memory cards: CompactFlash, Memory Stick, SecureDigital, MultiMedia and xD-Picture Cards; while Mini SD and MemoryStick Duo cards can be used with an adaptor. The 8050 is PictBridge-compatible, so it enables printing directly from a compatible digital camera. An optional adaptor allows printing from Bluetooth-enabled devices such as camera phones and PDAs. The 8050 can also print a series of images from a video clip.
The 8050 uses a six-ink printing system incorporating Viera inks. For black & white printing, the optional HP 100 Grey Inkjet Print Cartridge is available. Incorporated into the printer is HP?s Real Life Technologies to reduce the effects of red-eye, while Adaptive Lighting can improve exposure problems. Bundled with the printer is HP Image Zone software, which has a range of image-editing features.
