Pocket-sized compact with retro design

Fujifilm’s utilised the buzz around this year’s Photokina to debut its latest X-series model – the XF1. This latest compact features a premium aluminium finish and is designed with a fixed f/1.8 Fujinon 4x optical zoom lens that provides a 25-100mm focal length in 35mm terms.

At the heart of the XF1 lies a 2/3-inch, 12 million-pixel EXR-CMOS sensor. This is partnered by Fujifilm’s EXR processor that promises to deliver fast AF in low-light and to counteract any handshake issues that users may incur the lens is equipped with a unique optical image stabilisation mechanism that shifts one group of four lens elements to reduce blur.

The rear of the XF1 sports a 3inch, 460k-dot LCD screen. A motion panorama mode will be popular with those that like to shoot panoramic images and it benefits from full manual controls for the more advanced user. Full HD movie recording (1920×1080) is also provided, as are 11 creative filters, which can be previewed onscreen.

The XF1 will be available in black, red and brown, although there’s no information on price or when the XF1 will be available as yet. For more information on the new model, visit the Fujifilm website.
