Epson has announced that it is sponsoring a category in the Schools Newspaper of the Year Competition – Newsday 2006.
The new photojournalism category aims to inspire young photographers to tell a story ?demonstrating the impact photography has as a form of journalism?.
Newsday 2006 takes place during the weeks 30th January ? 3rd February and 13-17th March 2006. Held annually, the competition typically attracts 700 entries and is open to primary and secondary schools, who are given a day in which to generate a newspaper or news portal.
The wining school ? chosen by selected by journalists and teachers ? will win an Epson A3 printer. The prize will be award to the school that is judged to have used a photograph most effectively to illustrate a news story or feature, looking at: composition, relevance, colour and print quality.
