Review of the Velbon RUP-40
The RUP-40 has a very similar design to the Manfrotto and Silk 350 monopods, with a matt black body, cushioned foam handle and wrist support. It folds down further than the Slik 350 and reaches just 2cm less when fully extended.
The barrel is narrower than the other two, but the clips lock securely and it feels very solid when at its maximum height. There isn’t a head, but as with the other two models this is aimed at DSLR users supporting large lenses and heavy camera bodies. It’s heavier than the Slik, but only by 60g, so probably wouldn’t be noticeable over a day’s shooting.
