The Modo 785B is a lightweight and portable tripod that Manfrotto claims is specifically designed for use with digital cameras and videos.

Aimed at achieving pro-quality results with maximum creative flexibility, the attractive aluminum alloy tripod has a joystick-controlled ball head with a quick-release plate and is suitable for use with either stills or video cameras (users can switch at the turn of a dial).

To get set up with the minimum of fuss the tripod’s legs are lever locking, with a dividable centre column so the tripod can be used for low-angle work at a height of 17.5cm from the ground if required (maximum height is 105.5cm). Rubber feet mean you’re protected against slippage. Overall the tripod is easy to adjust, the flexibility of the ball head affording a wide range of creative angles. The build mix of metal and rubber lends it a nicely tactile feel. For outdoor photographers, an optional bag is available.

Verdict:
Well built and easy to adjust, the ball head also offers a good range of creative freedom.

Pros:
Easy to use, nicely finished, flexible ball head, can be used with stills or video cameras

Cons:
Not a lot
