As you might expect for a camera that inherits a sensor used in more enthusiast-orientated models, the GF7 impresses in terms of image quality. The sensor delivers a good dynamic range, generally in keeping with what one might expect from a Four Thirds model with a good balance between shadows and highlights.

Colour

Although colour rendition might not be as punchy as on some competing models – such as those from Olympus – the GF7 still renders an attractive colour palette. The general level of colour saturation is also well held throughout the ISO range.

Resolution

In this regard, once again the GF7 delivers to a level one might expect from a 16MP CSC. This general level of resolution is well maintained throughout the ISO range, although at the higher settings it does begin to drop off notably.

Noise

Images captured on the lowest ISO setting are expectedly clean of noise, however noise does increase fairly sharply above ISO 1600. At ISO 3200 images could well be described as very noisy, while the top two settings of ISO 12800 and 25600 are best avoided.
