When buying one of these cameras you need to bear in mind that they are the manufacturers’ entry-level models and they will lack certain features available on cameras with a higher price. Having said that, it offers a good range of options for the price.
If you want good image quality in an attractively designed body, then Nikon’s L10 could be the answer
The FE-210 has a good spec to go with its attractive design and good image quality. Along with the Pentax E30 it has a 7MP sensor and a 3x optical zoom with an ISO range of 64-640. There are 15 scene modes and using the most relevant mode will improve on using the Auto mode.
The FE-210 uses xD cards for storage. ISO selection is automated, leaving you no option of overriding it. You can set the image size but, because of the in-camera ISO selection, it means you occasionally get more noise from the higher ISO settings than you bargained for. Having said that, image quality is consistent over a range of subjects indoors and out, and noise is generally low throughout the images taken.
