Canon launch pan-European photography and fashion project

Canon has teamed up with 17 leading fashion designers across Europe, including British designer Matthew Williamson, in a competition pairing photography and fashion design.

The competition invites photographers from 17 European countries to submit images that they feel capture the essence of their country. The designers will in turn design unique collections with the same theme, inspired by the images submitted.

Images for the competition can be uploaded through Canon?s custom built website, with Canon set to make a donation to the Red Cross for every image uploaded.

The site will allow users to view each other?s images, create ?mood boards?, and vote for their favourite image in weekly competitions, with the most popular in each region winning a Canon IXUS 70 digital camera.

Commenting on the project, Matthew Williamson, said, ?Canon?s fashion projects are always glamorous and creative, and I?m delighted to work alongside them in helping the public to unlock their potential and become part of something truly spectacular?

The window for submissions runs up until the 4th August, and the site can be found at www.canon-europe.com/wespeakimage
