A firmware update for Sony?s latest Alpha A700 DSLR has been made available by the company.

The update addresses certain concerns that users of the DSLR have reported to Sony. Image sharpness and noise control are the two main areas where improvements have been made, as well as tweaks to improve flash control when using non-AD-I lenses.

In addition to the update, patches for the Image Data Converter and Image Data Lightbox software bundled with the DSLR have also been made available, correcting the functioning of features such as image display and file type indication. Sony has stated that the software updates relate only to early production Firmware Ver.1 models, which were manufactured through early October. Firmware Ver.2 models already include this upgrade, which may be checked by pressing the Menu and Display buttons together.
