Just two weeks before the PMA trade show in Las Vegas, Sony has refreshed its Cyber-shot stable with an array of new models.
Joining the superzoom H series is the H20, a 10.1MP camera with a 10x optical zoom. It comes complete with 720p HD movie functionality, as well as Optical SteadyShot image stabilisation for the prevention of image blur, while the previously-seen Face Recognition, Smile Shutter and Intelligent Scene Recognition technologies all serve to optimise image capture.
The stylish T range welcomes two new members, in the shape of the T90 and T900. Both compacts sport 12.1MP sensors as well as 4x optical zoom lenses, while the T900 provides all this in a body that’s just 15.1mm thick (at its thinnest point). It also sees a large 3.5in touch-screen LCD on the rear, as well as many of the same technologies as the H20.
The W series, meanwhile, sees the introduction of the W270: a 12.1MP compact with a Carl Zeiss 5x optical zoom, starting from a useful 28mm wide angle. As with the other models here, it provides Sony’s Super SteadyShot stabilisation, as well as Face Recognition and Smile Shutter technologies.
Finally, the entry-level S930 offers a 10.1MP sensor and 3x optical zoom, alongside Face Detection. Three further models – the W230, W290 and S980 – have also been announced, although their availability in the UK is yet to be confirmed.
