Sony has announced the winners of its World Photography Awards 2009. The winners are split between 8 amateur and 36 professional categories, and represent the very highest level of photography.

Of the 12 overall professional category winners, one photographer will be selected as the recipient of the L’Iris D’or prize, awarded to Photographer of the Year.
