Sony has announced a new addition to the Microvault portable hard-disk range. Featuring a protective metal casing, the one-inch hard disk plugs straight into the USB port of a computer, through an attached swivel connector.
Boasting dimensions approximately the size of a business card, the 8GB drive sports a different design from its predecessor.
Supplied with each drive is Auto Sync file synchronisation, to enable the user to access their latest files, as well as retrieving up to 10 generations of files.
The 8GB Microvault Pro will be available from February for around £136 (199 euros).
Sony is also extending its flash-media range, by launching the Memory Stick Micro (M2), which is designed for use in mobile phones. Available in capacities of 256MB, 512MB and 1GB, each M2 card is 1.2mm thick and dual-voltage support enables it to be used with 1.8 and 3.3-volt products.
The 256MB and 512MB will be available from March, while the 1GB card will hit the shops in May. Each card will be supplied with a an adaptor enabling use in products compatible with Memory Stick Pro.
