A selection of black and white photographs by Graham Finlayson will be on display at The Lowry in Salford Quays.
Simply Black and White comprises 80 pictures from the late 1950s to early 1970s and includes Finlayson?s local and international work.
Finlayson worked as a staff photographer on the Daily Mail and the Guardian in Manchester, before going freelance in 1964, where he worked on supplements for The Sunday Times and Daily Telegraph. His work in the 1950s and 1960s alongside contemporaries such as David Bailey helped change press photography.
Finlayson?s widow Peggie comments: ?He managed to make himself disappear. People just weren?t aware of him taking their picture.?
The exhibition runs from April 8th to July 16th 2006, at The Lowry, Pier 8, Salford Quays, M50 3AZ. Admission is free; for more information call 0870 787 5793.
