In a continuation of its unique and quirky cameras, Ricoh has launched the 10MP G600 complete with shock, dust and water protection.

The model follows the 500G Wide released two years ago, and now boasts a more compact and lighter body, as well as a 5x optical zoom range spanning 28-140mm, in 35mm terms. A 2.7in LCD screen sits on the rear while the ISO range has now also been extended to a maximum of ISO 3200.

Its headline features, though, are in its life-proof capabilities. The model can withstand being dropped from a height of 1.5m and is waterproof to a maximum depth of 1m. It can also be used in environments with high concentrations of sand or dust, with the large button set said to provide easy access even when wearing gloves.

The G600 also features a lithium ion battery capable of up to 360 shots on a full charge, a 1cm macro mode and compatibility with both wide teleconverters and appropriate filters.
