Ricoh has announced the launch of the Caplio R7, succeeding the award-winning R6 model.

The R7 manages to maintain all of the best features of the R6, such as the acclaimed slim body and wideangle zoom lens, while introducing improvements in the shape of a new imaging engine and an 8.15 megapixel CCD sensor.

The new imaging engine comes in the form of the Smooth Imaging Engine III, which claims to ?reduce noise and preserve crisp outlines and produce non-grainy images even at high sensitivities?.

The R7 also sees the introduction a cross-key function for the ADJ. (adjust) button, making it easier to switch between fine imaging controls such as white balance and ISO sensitivity.

Available in silver, black and orange, expect to see the Caplio R7 in stores in September at suggested retail price of £229.99 inc. vat.
