Breaking news and feature photographers amongst winners
The winners of the 93rd annual Pulitzer Prizes were announced today by Colombia University.
Amongst the winners – in fields including Journalism, Letters, Drama and Music – were two photographers, each scooping $10,000 along with the prestigious title.
Patrick Farrell, of The Miami Herald, was awarded the title in the ‘Breaking News Photography’ category for his coverage of Hurricane Ike and the other lethal storms causing a humanitarian disaster in Haiti.
Meanwhile, Damon Winter, of The New York Times, was awarded the ‘Feature Photography’ award for a ‘memorable array of pictures deftly capturing multiple facets of Barack Obama’s presidential campaign.
