Samsung has announced the HZ1 superzoom compact, the first of its kind to offer a 24mm equivalent wideangle lens.

The camera features a 10x optical zoom, equating to a 24-240mm focal range, and is joined by a 10.2MP sensor. The option to record movies in 1,280 x 720p HD-resolution is also present, as are dual image stabilisation and face detection technologies.

The rear of the unit, meanwhile, sees a 2.7in LCD screen, with a 230,000dot resolution.
