Pentax and Samsung have announced an agreement to develop digital SLRs, incorporating technology from both manufacturers.
The newly developed SLR cameras will incorporate Pentax?s experience in manufacturing interchangeable lenses including Penta Prism technology, and incorporate Samsung?s image-processing technology, convergence technologies and brand recognition.
Pentax has already released a selection of digital SLRs, the most recent being the *ist DL. The move, however, marks Samsung?s first foray into the digital SLR market, following the release of the 8MP prosumer Pro815 camera earlier this year.
A release on the Pentax website states: ?Through combining their individual strengths and working together in synergy, Pentax and Samsung are devoted to supplying attractive digital camera products to the needs of individual markets.? Samsung states: ?The partnership will be based on sharing their respective competencies to enhance competitiveness in digital cameras.?
