Following the launch of the [mju:] 500 earlier this year, Olympus?s range of stylish compacts is expanding further with the camera giant?s first 8MP compact, the [mju:] 800.
Available in dark blue or silver, the [mju:] 800 has the same weatherproof metal body and 3x optical f/2.8-4.9 all-glass lens, to help take accurate images with little distortion.
The 215,000-pixel 2.5-inch LCD incorporates HyperCrystal technology, which Olympus claim reduces screen glare and offers three times the contrast of a conventional CCD.
Incorporated into the camera is new Bright Capture technology, which contains a host of features to enhance image capture in low-light conditions and to help to reduce the effect of camera shake,
Features include a new Guide Function that offers advice for novice users on different camera settings. As well as 19 scene modes including Indoor, Portrait and Night Shoot, the camera incorporates Aperture and Shutter Priority exposure modes and VGA movie mode. Super Macro mode can focus as close as 3cm.
A lithium-ion battery and charger are supplied, and photos can be stored on the 19Mb internal memory.
