Last month we brought you news about a problem causing certain batches of Nikon lithium-ion batteries to become defective.
The batteries were supplied with the D50, D70 and D100 and as an optional accessory with the D70s. A problem during the manufacturing process of the EN-EL3 lithium-ion battery means specific batch numbers have a defect, which may cause them overheat – or even catch fire – while being charged.
Nikon has extended the list of potentially defective batch numbers, and will replace affected cells, free of charge.
Added batch numbers are: 51AA, 51AB, 51AC, 51AD, 51AE, 51AF, 51AG, 51AH, 53AA, 53AB, 54AE, 54AF and 54AH.
For a complete list of the affected batteries visit www.europe-nikon.com/support or call 02871 305500.
