Nikon has announced a new prime lens aimed at people looking to expand their camera system without breaking the bank.

The new AF-S DX Nikkor 35mm f/1.8 incorporates Nikon’s NIKKOR ultra-compact ring type Silent Wave Motor – a feature that Nikon claims ‘provides quiet accurate focus operation even with cameras without built-in motors, such as the Nikon D40 and D60’.

The lens also features a fast maximum aperture of f/1.8, and comes complete with removable lens hood. Sales of the 35mm f/1.8 start from the 6th March, with an RRP of £199.99.
