Three new COOLPIX compacts from Nikon offering impressive specs and looks have been launched, offering some significant upgrades from their predecessors. The Nikon COOLPIX S3100, Nikon COOLPIX S4100 and Nikon COOLPIX S6100 each allow 720p HD recording and a wide range of colours to choose from.

The Nikon COOLPIX S3100 is a 14MP compact capable of slipping into a pocket and yet still manages to fit in a 5x optical zoom and the likes of a Smile Timer mode which registers a facial expression before taking a remote shot. The Nikon COOLPIX S4100 adds a 3″ touchscreen into the mix, but otherwise keeps the specs the same, and finally the Nikon COOLPIX S6100 ups the resolution to 16MP and increases the zoom to 7x. 

All three will be available soon, although the S3100 is the only model of the trio with a confirmed release date of the 17th of March. The prices are; £129.99 for the S3100, £149.99 for the S4100 and £199.99 for the S6100.
