The latest compact to be released is the Nikon Coolpix L610. Boasting a powerful 14x optical zoom and 16Mp backlit sensor, it also offers full HD video recording
Nikon’s latest compact release, the COOLPIX L610 incorporates a 16Mp backlit CMOS sensor, 14x optical zoom and Full HD movie recording. Adding to this, the COOLPIX L610 adopts Nikon’s Lens-Shift Vibration Reduction to keep handheld images sharp and an Easy Auto mode is intended to do the hard work for you, leaving you to concentrate solely on composition and getting the shots you want.
The powerful 14x NIKKOR optical zoom lens is equivalent to 25-300mm and features a construction of 11 elements in 10 groups, with 2ED lens elements making up the design. As well as 19 scene modes to explore, there’s a 3in, 460k-dot LCD screen at the rear to view your shots and very impressively the macro mode allows you to focus from as close a 1cm.
The standard ISO range runs from 125-1600 (ISO 3200 available when using Auto mode) and the shutter speed can be set between 1second and 1/1600. HD video is recorded at 1920×1080@30fps and expect to be able to shoot 470 shots when the L610 is used with alkaline batteries.
If black isn’t your preferred choice of colour, the L610 will also be made available in red and silver.
Weighing 240g and measuring 108×68.4×34.1mm, the COOLPIX L610 will be available from the 23rd August and is expected to cost £199.
