Panasonic has announced a new entry-level addition to its Lumix range, in the shape of the LS80.

The announcement comes just over a week before manufacturers from across the globe will be showcasing their latest products at this year?s PMA show in Las Vegas.

The model features an 8MP sensor and a 3x optical zoom, giving an equivalent focal range of 33-100mm. The lens is complimented by Panasonic?s Mega OIS stabilisation system, with the camera also boasting a 230,000pixel LCD screen, measuring 2.5 inches.

An Intelligent Mode also makes an appearance on the model, which ascertains whether Image Stabilisation and Intelligent ISO control need to be activated, also utilising the Auto Macro and Quick AF functions where necessary.

Other features seen previously on Panasonic?s models ? such as the Easy Zoom function and Venus III processing engine ? also feature on the LS80.

Details on pricing and availability are yet to be made available. For more information visit www.panasonic.com
