A new 8MP model and two wideangle compacts are among the new additions to Samsung?s Digimax range.
The Digimax V800 is an 8MP compact with a 3x optical Schneider-Kreuznach zoom lens and 2.5in LCD screen. It follows the release earlier in 2005 of the 7MP V700 and with it Samsung hopes to obtain a bigger share of the 8MP compact market.
As well as Manual, Aperture Priority and Shutter Priority modes, the V800 has 11 scene modes and an MPEG 4 movie mode with stabilisation to rectify camera movements. A selection of colour effects and photo frames can be applied to photographs, which can be stored on the camera?s 32Mb internal memory.
Next up, sporting a 4.8x optical wideangle lens equivalent to 28-135mm (in 35mm format) the Digmax L55 has a metal cover.
In a first for a Samsung camera, the L55 includes a 2.8in LCD screen offering a160° viewing angle, continuous shooting at a rate of 2.5 fps and a shot-to-shot time of one second.

Targeting family users, the 5MP Digimax L50 includes a 3x optical zoom lens and 2.5in LCD screen. It features MPEG-4 movie mode with a movie stabiliser and 11 scene modes.
The A55W, A50, A40 and A502 are four new additions to Samsung?s ?A? range.
Available at the end of the summer, the A55W has a 5MP CCD and 28-135mm 4.8x optical zoom lens. Sporting a similar design the A50 has a 5MP CCD and 35-105mm 3x optical zoom. Hitting shops in September is the A40, a 4MP compact with a 3x optical zoom and 2in LCD screen; while the A502 is a 4MP camera with a fixed-focus lens.
