The Dimbola Lodge Museum, former home of Victorian photographer Julia Margaret Cameron, is launching a new exhibition of Cameron?s work.
Composed of photographs donated by Neville Hickman, the new exhibition opens in January in the middle Cameron Gallery.
Hickman discovered the photographs along with a selection of letters from the Cameron family, in 1967 at Orgreave Hall in Staffordshire. He later sold them to the J Paul Getty Museum in Los Angles. After seeing Dimbola Lodge on television, Hickman presented the museum with 17 copies of Cameron?s photographs including an original photograph of Beatrice Cenci.
Hickman comments: ?I felt that, having gained so much from the work of this wonderful pioneer photographer, it was time for me to give something back.?
The exhibition will open on Friday 13th January; opening times are Tuesday to Sunday 10am ? 5pm. For more information log onto www.dimbola.co.uk.
