Canon has added four new compacts to the already announced EOS 550D DSLR, boasting the likes of HD video and touchscreen. The PowerShot SX210 IS is the forerunner, being an impressively specced super-zoom with plenty of features outside of the usual huge optical magnification.
HD video and a 14.1MP sensor make an appearance, being bolstered impressively by a 3″ touchscreen and Image stabilization. The IXUS 210 also offers HD video and a 14.1 MP sensor, but in this instance wrapped in a slim, stylish frame. The huge 3.5″ touchscreen allows subjects to be tapped for tracking focus, and the likes of Smart Shutter for smile detection. The price is an expensive £349, which is only £10 less than the SX210 IS. Following up is the IXUS 130, which also offers 14.1 MP but a smaller zoom and screen than the IXUS 210 and the ISUX105, which has 12.1MP but is otherwise very similar. The pair are priced at £279 and £189 respectively.
