The 8MP EX-Z850 and the 6MP EX-Z60 are new additions to Casio?s Exilim Zoom range.
Both cameras incorporate a 38-114mm (35mm equivalent) 3x optical zoom and 2.5in LCD, for clearer viewing outside. The Super Bright LCD on the EX-Z850 includes 1,200 cd/m2 of luminescent output.
A total of 33 BESTSHOT scene modes are found on both compacts; in addition the EX-Z850 offers manual, aperture and shutter priority modes.
Once the cameras are turned on, Casio claims, the EX-Z850 can take a picture in 1-second and has 0.0005 sec shutter lag, while the EX-Z60 can capture a shot in 1.4 sec and has a 0.002 sec shutter lag.
Incorporating Casio?s SUPERLIFE battery, the EX-Z850 can capture 440 shots from a single charge. Revive shot is designed to be used for digitising photographs; it restores colours that may have faded.
Several flash modes are found in both EXILIMs. Rapid Flash takes three flash pictures per second and Soft Flash prevents overexposure in close-up shots. The EX-Z850 includes High Power Flash, which can illuminate subjects 12m away.
Other features found in both cameras include: Quick Shutter; Auto Macro, which automatically swaps the focus from auto to macro; 9-Point Multi AF; and Direct On, for quick access to record and playback modes.
