The new water, freeze, drop and dust proof Canon Powershot D20 debuts

Canon has alunched the long awaited update to the PowerShot D10 in the shape of the Canon PowerShot D20. This new compact camera offers a 12MP sensor utilizing the HS system, which should improve performance in low light, as well as a 5x optically stabilized zoom.

Thanks to the 10 meter waterproofing, -10 degrees celcius freezeproofing and ability to withstand descending 1.5 meters without sustaining damage the D20 should be perfect for extreme sports enthusiasts. GPS is also included to insure images and video taken is associated to a particular location.

Video quality is at the 1080p HD resolution, and a 5x optical zoom is included to make the D20 as versatile as possible. With a number of tough models hitting the shelves just before Summer we’re looking forward to seeing which model can actually survive the conditions they claim to, as our tough tests have shown many to fall short of the mark.
