Weak pound has knock-on effect
Canon Europe has admitted to the team over at Amateur Photographer that it is going to increase the price of some of its products from this month to combat the weak pound.
While Canon has not yet detailed which products are going to be affected, it did say that it has already told retailers of its plans.
It blamed ‘currency fluctuations and the recent rapid increase in the value of the yen versus the euro’.
And Canon is not alone. Rival Nikon is also to announce a barrage of price boosts on 12 January, though, again, has not revealed which products will be affected.
Nikon UK is blaming ‘volatile exchange rate conditions’.
A spokesperson added exclusively to AP: ‘All product groups will be affected to some degree.’
A recommended retail price list will be available to view from 12 January on Nikon’s website.
