GfK figures show recession-bucking 60% growth in DSLR sales

Sales of DSLRs have continued to grow, defying the credit crunch and showing an increase on year on year sales, according to GfK Marketing Services Ltd.

Overall volume of sales grew 60%, with value growth increasing 45% compared to January 2008, and a total of nearly 125,000 DSLRs being purchased in December 2008 and January 2009.

The increase in DSLR sales hasn’t, however, caused a downturn in compact purchases, with that market increasing over 7% in the same period.
