Heading Samsung?s new digital line-up is the Digimax PRO815, an 8MP camera with a 15x optical zoom lens.
The camera is one of Samsung?s most ambitious digital cameras and is aimed at enthusiast photographers. There are a selection of innovative features including ? at 3.5ins ? the world?s largest TFT LCD screen, a top-plate LCD screen and the world?s largest-capacity lithium-ion battery capable of capturing up to 500 shots from a single charge.
One of the most striking elements of the camera is the 15x optical zoom lens with a focal length from wide to telephoto of 28-420mm. Four low-dispersion lenses are designed to reduce the effects of chromatic aberration and two aspherical lenses rectify spherical aberration.
Unlike some other super-zoom cameras, the PRO815 doesn?t feature an optical image stabiliser, instead a High Speed mode automatically adjusts the camera?s sensitivity (up to ISO 800) and increases the shutter speed.
The fastest response times of its class are promised, including a 1-second start-up and shot-to-shot shooting speed of 1.3-seconds. Zooming, focusing and exposure compensation are controlled by three rings around the lens barrel.
