Mediocre performance and images full of flaws.

The 7.2-megapixel Casio EX-Z75 offers a 3x optical zoom and 33 individual scene modes.

Lots of Scene Modes

Marketed as ‘user-friendly, fun and convenient’, the EX-Z75 bridges the gap between a simple point-and-shoot and a compact with a little more to play with. A straightforward user-interface together with slim styling suggests the young-and-trendy market at which it is aimed, while an impressive 34 scene modes cater for most situations.

Performance

A 2.6in wide LCD screen allows an inch of room for shooting information, with the rest displaying a 115,000 pixel image. The camera’s buttons are a major disappointment though, being small, thin and a little too embedded within the camera’s body for comfortable pressing.

Image Quality

Google Preferred Source Badge

Images, though correctly exposed, boast a range of inaccuracies, from edge and corner drop-off to some pretty severe green fringing, with many appearing ‘smudgy’. Overall, the camera seems to be another example of one that looks great and is good for small print sizes (6x4in) but somewhat incompetent if its full 7MP resolution is to be utilised.
