Nikon has teamed up with Clothes Show Live 2006 to introduce a Young Fashion Photographer of the Year Competition. Created as part of the manufacturer?s Educational Bursary scheme, the award is the first of its kind in the UK and aims to celebrate up and coming British talent within the world of fashion photography.
The competition invites 16-25 year olds from across the UK to create a picture that encapsulates the world of fashion photography. The brief requires budding photographers to use their imagination and photographic skills to create and shoot an image that sums up exotic locations, foreign travel and glamorous people. However entrants do not need to travel to far flung destinations ? they are asked to utilise everyday scenarios. Entrants must also complete an application form explaining what influenced their design and include with their photograph any preliminary sketches or designs.
A panel of judges will choose the twelve best entries whose work will then be displayed at Clothes Show Live 2006, which runs at the Birmingham NEC between 1st and 6th December 2006. Final judging will take place at the show and the overall winner will receive £2000 prize money, a one-week placement with a top photographer, £1000 worth of Nikon photographic equipment and a VIP lunch at the show for 4 people. The closing date for entries is 20th October 2006.
Kate Robinson, Head of Press and PR at Nikon UK, at Nikon said: ?We are really excited to collaborate with the Clothes Show Live for this fantastic competition. Recognising young talent is crucial to the future of the fashion photography industry.?
