Norton College Sheffield student Christopher Pledger has won the prestigious Times/Tabasco Young Photographer of the Year Award.

Norton College Sheffield student Christopher Pledger has won the prestigious Times/Tabasco Young Photographer of the Year Award. The 23 year old beat off stiff competition to emerge victorious in the contest and is due to start his six-month placement at The Times prize in August.
Christopher?s entry consisted of three different prints in the categories Food & Entertainment, Action and Portraiture. Speaking of his award the student said, “I was delighted to win such a highly respected competition and I am really looking forward to starting the six months at The Times. I received a lot of guidance and advice from my course tutor at Norton, Paul Delmar, which was invaluable when going through the different stages of the competition.”
Now in its fifth year, the Times/Tabasco Young Photographer of the Year was established to recognise and reward young photographic talent. The competition offers a young photographer the opportunity to win a six month paid contract on the national newspaper as a news and features photojournalist. Previous winners of the award have continued to enjoy successful careers as professional photojournalists and have even won other press awards for their work.
