Sony has launched a new data retrieval program. Memory Stick Data Rescue enables Memory Stick users to recover images and data files that have been lost or deleted.
The online tool requires customers to register their Memory Stick model name and serial number before downloading the recovery software. Memory Stick File Rescue can then be used to recover .jpg (DCF format), MPEG1 and .mp4 (MS Video File Format) files and in addition to most Microsoft Office data files including Powerpoint and Word documents. Once the Memory Stick is plugged in, the software guides the user through seven steps, during which the files are verified, recovered and resaved.
The Memory Stick File Rescue software is compatible with all Sony Memory Stick cards sold since 1998. The success of the file recovery is dependent on the state of the data and whether or not it has been overwritten.
Better still, the File Rescue software is free and can be downloaded from the Sony customer support website at: www.sonydigital-link.com/memstick/downloads
