First ever NME Music Photography Awards with Nikon announced
Music magazine NME has announced the winners of the first NME Music Photography Awards in association with Nikon. Both professionals and amateurs have been rewarded for their images of musicians on stage, behind the scenes or the crowds filling the stadiums.
Andy Willsher received an Outstanding Contribution award for a career filled with iconic images, shooting the royalty of rock from Morrisey to the White Stripes. There were also awards for Wouter Loeve in the Amateur (14 and Under) category, Alexandra Apolenova in the 15-17 age range, Rob Marrison in Reportage and Jason Williamson for Portrait. The Live award went to Joe Watson for his image of Andrew WK, James Berry in the Festival category for his shot of the Police at Glastonbury and Paula Gillespie triumphed in the Photographer of the Year prize.
The images will be available to view at the British Music Experience until the 30th of November at the O2 in London.
