Two new long zoom compacts, which offer a high degree of optical magnification in a comparatively small body, have been announced by Fujifilm in the form of the JZ500 and JZ300.
Both offer 10x optical zoom in a 23mm frame, with the primary difference being the 12.1MP sensor on the JZ300 as opposed to the 14.1MP sensor on the Z500. The Z500 also has new face and pet detection technology, being able to recognize people or animals in a far more specific manner. There’s also 720p HD video, tracking auto focus and up to 3200 ISO available on the two models.
There’s plenty of stiff competition in the long zoom compact range already, so both low price and individual features will be required to stand the Z300 and Z500 out from the crowd.
