Cisco to cease making Flip camcorders
Cisco, the parent company of flash memory-based camcorder makers Flip, has announced the company will cease production. The handheld HD and SD video recorders were one of the pioneers of the flash video market, giving consumers a handheld, pocketable option over the previously bulky full-size camcorders.
In recent years both mobile phones and compact cameras have offered an equivalent level of quality to the Flip, while also including the features related to those devices. Where the Flip has been steadily improving in features offered, the likes of the Apple iPhone 4 and Casio EX-ZR10 have started offering HD video in an equally convenient frame.
Cisco will continue support for the FlipShare site, which allows Flip users to share video content. For more information head to Cisco’s website.
